MEET THE STAFF
Originally from Costa Rica, Agnes joined CMR (now Community Reach of Montgomery County) in 1991 as a volunteer accountant and soon became a full-time employee charged with updating CMR’s accounting system. She proposed and founded CMR’s Language Outreach Program (originally Latino Outreach), directing that program until 1998 when she was promoted to Managing Director. In that position, she was responsible for oversight of all direct service programs, day-to-day operations of the organization and oversight of administration. In 2008, Agnes was named Executive Director of CMR . She is accountable to the Board of Directors and responsible for overseeing all areas of Reach. Since 2013, Agnes has also served as the Executive Director of our subsidiary, Mansfield Kaseman Health Clinic, responsible for it's day-to-day operations.
Agnes is fluent in both Spanish and English, knowledgeable in Latino/Hispanic culture issues and serves on several boards and commissions. She has been a member f the Latin American Advisory Committee for Montgomery County Executive, Montgomery Cares Advisory Board, Health Centers Leadership Council for Montgomery County Clinics, and the Human Services Advisory Commission for the City of Rockville. Agnes is also a graduate of the Leadership Montgomery class of 1998.
Agnes holds a BS Degree in Business Administration with a major in Management and Accounting from the University of Lima, Peru. She received her Masters Degree in Human Resources from the University of Maryland University College. She has been a resident of Montgomery County since 1991. She was honored by the Maryland Hispanic Business Conference (MDHBC) as the 2014 Latina Powerhouse Award winner.

Brenda joined CMR (now Community Reach of Montgomery County) in 2017 as Deputy Director. She had been responsible for finance at a membership organization located in Washington, DC. for ____ years. Previous to that position, Brenda had worked for an accounting firm that specialized in serving the non-profit industry.
A life-long resident of Montgomery County, Brenda grew up in the Wheaton area of the county and raised her family in Poolesville. Working for an organization that directly serves the community where she lives was an important factor in her move.
As deputy director, Brenda is directly responsible for four programs of Community Reach - Housing, Rockville Emergency Assistance, Language Outreach Program, and Senior Reach. Additionally, Brenda oversees the finance and development functions for Community Reach and the four programs.

Director of Finance
Della began work with CMR (now Community Reach of Montgomery County) in 2005 in the position of Accounting Assistant. In 2017, at the retirement of the finance director she had served since her hire, Della was named Director of Finance. In that position, she is responsible for all financial matters of Community Reach of Montgomery County, subsidiary Mansfield Kaseman Health Clinic, and our four programs. Her position also overseas all Human Resource functions for the organization, and is the staff liaison to the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors.
Della grew up in a large family in southwest Virginia. She received her B.S. in accounting from Lynchburg College. She is currently studying for her CPA license. Along with her work in Finance, Della has held a part-time position as Site Coordinator in our Language Outreach Program. This work allows her a better understanding of the clients we serve and she enjoys the opportunity to work in direct service with our clients.
When not working at Community Reach, Della is an active participant in her church, particularly working in outreach and with the teens of the congregation. She has especially enjoyed the opportunity to experience other cultures firsthand through mission trips to serve vulnerable communities in other parts of the world.

Director of Development & Volunteer Services
Andrea joined CMR (now Community Reach) in 2013 as Director of Development and Volunteer Services. She has a long work history of communications, marketing and management in for-profit, non-profit and government organizations, including years in the restaurant industry and advertising specialties. Her previous work with volunteers has included board member of Corporate Volunteer Center of Montgomery County and senior fellow at the Montgomery County Volunteer Center as well as a weekly volunteer position for 10 years.
Andrea's role with Community Reach includes much of the outward facing work of the organization, providing written and verbal communication to the community about our work, serving on coalitions and committees with our non-profit and government partners, and developing relationships with companies and individuals who are interested in the needs of the vulnerable in our community. She organizes the events of Community Reach and our programs, and also serves as the director of our work with the Holiday Giving Coalition of Montgomery County.
A lifelong resident of the county, Andrea grew up in greater Rockville, received her AA in Criminal Justice, Corrections at Montgomery College, her BS in Management Studies from University of Maryland University College, and raised her family in Silver Spring.

Director, Language Outreach Program
Cecilia joined CMR (now Community Reach of Montgomery County) in 1993 as an LOP Teacher and coordinator of the children’s program. A former high school teacher, Cecilia has been responsible for Community Reach’s Language Outreach Program since 2001. In this position, Cecilia and her staff instruct over 450 adults annually in English as a Second Language while also providing homework tutoring, pre-school readiness, and childcare for the participants’ children while their parents are in class. Prior to being named Director, she held several positions within the Program including instructor, coordinator of the children’s program, and co-director. Cecilia has served as a director on the board of Montgomery Coalition for Adult English Literacy (MCAEL) for over 8 years. Cecilia holds a BA in Education from the Universidad Particular Inca Garcilazo de la Vega, Lima, Peru. She is fluent in both English and Spanish.

Director, Rockville Emergency Assistance Program
Odeth Berlin joined CMR (now Community Reach of Montgomery County) in 2006 in the position of receptionist. She was the first staff member to speak with a person in crisis. and her duties included determining how a potential client could best be served. This is where her training for her current position really began. On the way, she served in other areas of the organization. Odeth served as Assistant Director of Development and Volunteer Services, helping with the planning and organization of fundraisers and events as well as recruiting volunteers for all of our service areas. Odeth also oversaw our Holiday Giving Program and served as a speaker in the United Way and CFC work force campaigns. She studied at Montgomery College and Strayer University to increase her skills.
In 2013, Odeth was promoted to Program Director of REAP. In this position, she helps keep Rockville families in their homes by providing financial assistance to prevent eviction, or utility turn-off, or to pay for life-saving prescriptions. She trains and manages a staff of volunteers who serve as intake coordinators and refer Montgomery County residents to health and human services available through non-profit organizations or the government.
When not at Reach, Odeth manages the many family activities of her children and husband, and is involved with the local Jamaican community and her church. She is often called upon to cook for large groups as she is well-known for her jerk chicken and other island specialties. Odeth even shares this talent with Reach supporters as she offers a Jamaican meal as an auction item at our annual Gala.

Manager, Senior Reach
Will began work with CMR (now Community Reach of Montgomery County) in 2018 as the Program Manager for Elderly Ministries (now Senior Reach). In that position, he provides case management for our senior clients, meeting them in their homes to assess ongoing needs. Will also handles administrative duties such as grant reporting, connecting with our partner organizations, and contracting services for safe and secure projects of the program.
A native of Rockville, Will attended Green Acres School and Georgetown Prep. He studied Psychology at Washington University in Missouri and Naropa University in Colorado.
Will has spent years in the nonprofit world, in the areas of fundraising and social media. He found his interest in helping seniors just before joining Reach, when he served as the full-time caretaker for an elderly woman in Baltimore. Will managed her home and other essentials like meals and mobility. He enjoys spending time with our seniors and ensuring that they receive the best quality care and assistance.
Will lives in Twinbrook. He enjoys reading, meditating, organic food, and outdoor adventures.

Enrique came to CMR (now Community Reach of Montgomery County) as a volunteer in 2015. He worked 30 hours a week in the accounting department, traveling each day from Arlington, for the experience and the love of the mission. Due to his dedication and the benefit of the work he was doing, the organization asked him to continue as a paid staff member. In this position, he assists the director of finance with HR duties as well as accounting functions including ledger entries, proofing payables and making bill payments, setting up and running all finance pieces of our fundraising events, and much more. Enrique jumps in to assist in many other areas of the organization, staying late into the night to wrap presents for our Client Holiday Party, and then coming back the next day to make sure the clients have a great time at the event.
Enrique’s experience includes many years in the banking industry, from the position of teller through assistant branch manager. He is originally from Bolivia and fluent in Spanish. While working for Reach, Enrique earned his B.S. in Business and Accounting from George Mason University School of Business.
When not at work, he is often hiking and camping with friends in the mountains of Virginia or Maryland. Enrique was also part of an invitational Bolivian dance troupe for many years. He became quite adept at wearing heavy costumes in the summer heat while performing intricate and physically taxing steps over and over again for hours along a parade route.

Originally from North Carolina, Laurie graduated from Wake Forest University with a B.A. in physics. She moved to Fairfax County to teach high school physics before determining she wanted to make a difference in another way. Laurie again became a student and graduated with honors from The George Washington School of Law. She joined the firm of Covington & Burling, specializing in food and drug and patent law. In 2013, after many years of full-time parenting, Laurie began volunteering as an intake coordinator with our Rockville Emergency Assistance Program. Her ability to clearly explain, verbally and in writing, the mission of Community Reach and our accomplishments led to her being asked to join the organization as paid staff in the position of Grants Manager. Additionally, Laurie serves on the City of Rockville’s Human Services Advisory Commission as a Caregiver Representative of Community Reach of Montgomery County.

Jessica has been a supporter of Reach for over 10 years, working as a child tutor in the Language Outreach Program and as a volunteer at special events. Her previous work experience includes managing and training staff in data entry and retail, as well as providing customer service across a number of industries. Jessica’s ability to get to the heart of an issue and determine the logical steps needed to reach the goal are perfect for handling the diverse tasks of this position that supports all staff members. In addition, as a life-long resident of Montgomery County, she brings a wealth of knowledge about the needs and resources in our community.
Jessica enjoys raising her three children, spending time with her extended family, going to the beach, and exploring the countryside.
