Permanent Housing with Supports
Since 1986, Reach has provided safe homes for individual adults experiencing homelessness. Currently, the Housing Program includes Jefferson House for men and Rockland House for women. A permanent home and support system make it easier to find stable employment and helps residents develop skills to live independently.

Program Services
The Housing Program ensures that all residents have a safe and secure home, including a private bedroom and shared living space. Residents complete an individual service plan and are guided by a case manager on their path toward self sufficiency and personal growth. They take on responsibilities of paying rent based on their income and helping to maintain the house based on their ability. Regularly scheduled house meetings and workshops help residents develop skills for daily living.
Jefferson House
Established in 1991, Jefferson House is the first personal living quarters in Rockville to provide permanent housing with case management for up to six men who have experienced homelessness. First built in the mid-1800s, Jefferson House is designated as a historic home and is leased from Rockville United Methodist Church. Residents have completed substance abuse treatment and come to Jefferson House for a stable, drug-and-alcohol-free environment.
Rockland House
Reach purchased and opened Rockland House in 2014 through generous community donations and funding from Montgomery County. It provides permanent housing with case management for up to five women who have experienced homelessness in a stable, drug-and-alcohol-free environment.
How to get help
Reach's Housing Program is currently only able to serve people whose last residence was in Montgomery County. If your last residence was in Montgomery County and you need shelter, first contact the Montgomery County Crisis Center so any County organization serving those experiencing homelessness will be able to connect with you if there is an opening. This means you will have the best opportunity to be invited to enter a program that fits your needs when the next opening occurs.

Open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Eligibility Requirements
To enroll in the Housing Program, you must:
- live in Montgomery County, MD;
- be a single adult over 18 years old without custody of children;
- be currently unhoused or living in a temporary shelter; and
- have an annual income that does not exceed $74,000.
Due to HUD requirements, the Housing Program can only accept legal residents of the United States.

Method 1
Volunteer your time
The Housing Program welcomes volunteers for many different roles, including:
- Handyman services
- Workshops on life skills training or special interests
- Group opportunities to help with yardwork and home projects, or to organize social events
- Meal/food delivery
- Other assistance
Method 2
Donate funds
Our Housing Program is part of the Community Reach of Montgomery County ("Reach"), which is a nonprofit organization recognized by the Internal Revenue Service under tax ID #52-0910334. Donations made through the "Donate to support Housing" button below, or checks sent to Reach with "Housing" written in the memo section, will go directly to supporting the work of Housing. We are grateful for any level of support.
Method 3
Donate goods
The Housing Program welcomes donations of cleaning products and household supplies like paper towels, toilet paper, napkins, dishwashing soap, dishwasher/laundry detergent, sponges, etc. Clients welcome donated books or newspaper/magazine subscriptions. Occasionally, a client may need a specific appliance or piece of furniture. We generally request these items through our newsletter or on social media.
