Bilingual Medical Assistant (MA)

Overview:

Provide compassionate care to adult patients in an outpatient primary care setting under the supervision of RN Supervisor. Use clinical skills and knowledge to provide patients with a safe and high-quality experience while maintaining timeliness and workflow efficiency in the clinic. Collaborate with other staff to provide patients with the best resources for outgoing medical and social services referrals.

Location: Rockville, MD

 

Responsibilities:

  • Triage patients: take history, chief complaint, vital signs, and reconcile medications

  • Check-out patients: review provider notes and follow through. Provide patient education, perform labs, distribute/administer medications/vaccines, schedule follow ups, etc.

  • Perform phlebotomy and run other lab tests such as urine dip, pregnancy tests, etc.

  • Perform other clinical skills such as EKG, ear lavage, minor wound bandaging, etc.

  • Clean and stock exam rooms and maintain clinic organization

  • Follow standard precautions and/or enhanced precautions during patient care interactions

  • Assist in ordering of supplies/pharmaceuticals and maintain inventory

  • Assist with interpretation as needed in absence of interpreter

  • Request/retrieve patient medical records

  • Make patient care related phone calls and respond to assigned “telephone encounters”

  • Document timely and accurately in EMR system

  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Post high school education, to include certification as a Medical Assistant, and have at least 2 years of MA experience. Must have current Maryland Certification.

  • Skilled in phlebotomy

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish

  • Proficiency with computers and phones including typing skills and EMR experience

  • Demonstrate problem solving skills and ability to prioritize patient and clinic needs.

  • Be a team-player with ability to multi-task in fast paced environment

  • Maintain bi-annual CPR certification

Hourly range of $17-$21/hr based on experience and education.
