Sarah Basehart, Reach's executive director, commented on the new initiative and Reach's focus on advocacy:
I heard this quote in a video a few years ago: “it's easy to mind your business, it takes a little more effort to mind the community.” To me, that is the heart of advocacy, and if you are helping to mind the community then you are compelled to engage and stand up for others.
Reach has a strong legacy of supporting marginalized communities, including immigrants, and those experiencing poverty or homelessness. This support comes through both services and advocacy. It is important to me that we continue our advocacy focus and serve as a source of information for the community. Attend one or both of our events in September and commit to minding the community.
