MKHC
Board Member Spotlight: Dr. Deborah Miller-Young
Thisyear, MKHC was thrilled to welcome Deborah Miller-Young, DDS, to the Board of Directors! Her expertise in dentistry and commitment to community health will strengthen our mission to provide accessible care for all. As a faculty member at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry at Shady Grove, Dr. Miller-Young helps run the Dental Clinic and Patient Care Facility, where dental students gain hands-on experience providing care under expert supervision. MKHC often refers patients to this facility, as it offers an affordable option for low-income and uninsured individuals.
When MKHC’s executive director, Sarah Basehart, toured UMD’s programs, she connected with Dr. Miller-Young, who later visited MKHC’s office to learn more and meet our staff. She expressed that since she works with undocumented and uninsured individuals, she felt that “seeing where they seek their medical care isi nformative.” During her tenure on the board, she hopes to help address gaps inpatient care and provide insight into dentistry and interprofessional healthcare.
A native of New York and a die-hard Mets fan, Dr. Miller-Young has lived in Montgomery County for over a decade along with her husband and two children. As a passionate advocate for oral health and reproductive health, she is proud to live in a county with a large community of support and safety net services.
