Advocacy

Advocacy In the tradition of the prophets, we plead the cause of those who lack adequate representation and voice in places where important political, economic and social welfare decisions are made. We seek to bring dignity and justice to our poor and powerless neighbors for the common good. We support reconciliation, peace, and access to basic human rights to improve the quality of life for the vulnerable.

Our efforts to advocate on behalf of the needy in our community include the following.

  • Monitoring the Rockville Mayor and Council sessions by Executive Director.
  • Supporting the Rockville Human Services Advisory Commission.
  • Coordinating the Caregiver’s Coalition of Rockville that oversees human service programs and advocates support from the City.
  • Providing testimony in City and County venues in support of safety net programs.
  • Participating in the Rockville Chamber of Commerce with the goal of developing partnerships between business and human service programs.
  • Establishing a Business Roundtable Group as a way to give back to the business community for its support of CMR.
  • Lobbying the General Assembly in Annapolis through our membership in the Maryland Interfaith Legislative Committee.
