LOP Partners With Interfaith Clothing Center
An Exciting Partnership with a Nonprofit Organization Aligned with the CMR Mission - On August 9, CMR’s Language Outreach Program (LOP) began another exciting chapter. LOP began Conversation Classes through a partnership with Interfaith Works (IW) and their clients at the Interfaith Clothing Center (ICC). Classes will be held in four 8-week sessions each year, two mornings each week in class space at ICC. As with all LOP classes, childcare is being provided through CMR in conjunction with the classes.
IW's Monica Barberis-Young stated "The Interfaith Clothing Center is excited to offer more comprehensive programming to our most vulnerable neighbors. With the help of community partners, such as the well-established and highly successful CMR Language Outreach Program, it is our hope to empower those served to lift themselves out of poverty. English conversation is the first step in finding more possibilities." CMR's LOP Director Cecilia Rojas reported "CMR and Interfaith Works have had a strong relationship throughout our history. This partnership is just one more example of how organizations like ours can retain our autonomy and become experts in specific areas, while sharing that expertise with a larger slice of Montgomery County's vulnerable population."
LOP's Fall session of English as a Second Language (ESL) begins Thursday, September 1 with placement tests for new students to be held on August 25. For more information or to enroll in fall classes, contact Program Director Cecilia Rojas at crojas@CMRocks.org or 301-251-2136.
