REAP Helps Father & Daughter Through Financial Crisis

Mr. W lives in Rockville, Maryland and works part-time as a kitchen manager for Montgomery County Public Schools. He is a single father of six-year-old Margaret. He came to Rockville Emergency Assistance Program of Community Ministries of Rockville looking for help and guidance after his fiancée and daughter’s mother suddenly passed away.

After reviewing his situation, we first referred Mr. W to Montgomery County DHHS, for financial assistance for his utilities. In addition, our Rockville Emergency Assistance Program (REAP) provided Mr. W financial assistance to pay for his Pepco electric bill.

To further assist him, we referred him to Manna Food Center, a non-profit organization that provides food to individuals and families in Montgomery County.

We also provided Mr. W with a referral to the Colesville Adult Dental Clinic, a Montgomery County non-profit organization that provides affordable general dental care for adult’s ages 19-60 years.

Mr. W later wrote to us in our client survey:

“Thank you for all you have done, for working with me as a single father who was in need of help with my financial crisis. So touched am I by all the caring I have received from your organization. My daughter is happy and growing up learning life the right way.”
