ADVOCACY AND ECCLESIASTICAL RELATIONS

In the tradition of the prophets, Moses and Jesus, we continue to speak truth to power.
We also witness changes within systems and policies that improve the quality of life for
the vulnerable. Highlights include:

  • Monitoring the Rockville Mayor and Council sessions by Executive Director.
  • Supporting the Rockville Human Services Advisory Commission.
  • Coordinating the Caregiver’s Coalition of Rockville that oversees human service
    programs and advocates support from the City.
  • Participates in the Rockville Chamber of Commerce with the goal of developing
    partnerships between business and human service programs.
  • Established a Business Roundtable Group as a way to give back to the business
    community for its support of CMR.
  • Lobbying the General Assembly in Annapolis through our membership in the
    Maryland Interfaith Legislative Committee.

We seek to empower the mission of our member congregations. And we developed the
following opportunities for being together:

  • Began Christian Worship Services at the Hebrew Home of Washington with
    support from the Rockville Ministerial Alliance
  • Coordinated the Rockville Ministerial Alliance.
  • Co-sponsored the Interfaith Prayer Service for the County Executive and Council
    and all elected officials.
  • Co-sponsored the Children’s Sabbath.
  • Coordinated the Interfaith Thanksgiving Service.
  • Hosted the Interfaith Community Ministry Network as it worked out its partnership
    with the Points of Light Foundation.
